Fran Fyrhart - my vTuber avatar / original character design
The prompt I had for this design was a white haired tech-wear wearing cyborg, and the typical characteristics of techwear are baggy pants, harnesses, and sporty shoes. I decided to take some design cues from motorcycle boots with the footwear because I also ride motorcycles as a hobby.
I wanted a predominantly red and white color scheme but found it a bit too overwhelming to look at so I decided to have white as the primary color, red as the secondary color, blacks and grays to add contrast and the yellow harness to complete the cyberpunk look without it melding right into outfit.
I originally tried the typical techwear outfits most people are familiar with but I also wanted the left prosthetic arm to be visible, so I opted not to use a jacket. Triangles became a design pattern in the clothing because I wanted Fran to have an energetic look. I also took advantage of the triangle pattern to guide the viewer's eye to the face, where I ultimately want the user to spend more time looking at.
Fran was originally supposed to have red eyes but found that the red eyes tended to meld into the general look of the clothing which defeated the purpose of guiding the viewer's eye to the face. I tried blue colored eyes and found it to be extremely effective with keeping the viewer's attention at the face.
The look of the boots is inspired by Arkk Copenhagen's SE-15 pythron sneaker boots and Dainese Torque-3 riding boots
I wanted the pants to be of visual interest as well so I decided to add a hexagon camouflage pattern there
After a few mechanical-looking designs of the prosthetic arm, I tried an artificial muscle prosthetic farm which I ultimately found aesthetically pleasing and easier to look at.
